Goodlife’s Modernization Journey with WorkCentive
When Goodlife set out to modernize their compensation system, they were already in the middle of a broader digital transformation. Alongside a Workday rollout, they were ready to replace their legacy homegrown incentive system with something scalable and sustainable for the future.Their homegrown system had served them well, but over time, the people who built and maintained it had moved on. With no dedicated compensation team and multiple departments (IT, Finance, Project Management, and Product Owners) working together to manage compensation, Goodlife needed a solution that could simplify and unify their approach.
That’s where Varicent and WorkCentive came in.
WorkCentive’s team began with a detailed discovery phase, led by Noah Bass, to understand how Goodlife’s systems tracked and processed transactions across their fitness centers. Those transactions flowed into a central database, which the old system used for payout calculations. Recognizing that this data pipeline was both well-structured and stable, the WorkCentive team designed Varicent to connect directly to the same source.
This setup allowed for a smooth transition while preserving the integrity of Goodlife’s data and was one of the key reasons Varicent’s ELT model was the right fit.
As the build began, Basil, one of WorkCentive’s implementation experts, took the lead on designing and optimizing the data processing. Because of the high transaction volume, early tests showed that the ELT process was taking longer than expected. Basil developed a creative solution: instead of running sequential data pulls, he configured the system to run them in parallel. This adjustment significantly reduced processing time and improved system efficiency.
Throughout the project, Goodlife proved to be an exceptional partner. Their technical SMEs ensured the team had direct access to their database, eliminating the need for manual CSV file uploads. Their project manager kept discussions organized and action items clear, and the handoff to a technically skilled internal resource ensured a seamless transition after go-live.
From February to September, the project ran on a steady cadence of weekly meetings, collaboration, and problem-solving, ultimately delivering a modern, reliable compensation platform that supports Goodlife’s ongoing business growth.
For WorkCentive, this project marked an important milestone as it was Basil’s first full implementation. For Goodlife, it represented a major step forward in modernizing their operations while maintaining the agility and accuracy needed to manage incentive compensation across their organization.
